So our vegetable garden has done wonderfully well again for us this year. We planted beans. peas, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, beets and carrots! The tomatoes are on crack they are starting to creep over the top of the fence!

We planted hot peppers this year-cayenne, habanero and the standard jalapeño. Kyle had a smidgen of a cayenne pepper and he got a fat lip-success? I think so! :)

Photos from our fantastic trip to Palm Springs! My in-laws, Meagan and Brendan and us were lucky enough to go down. Kyle’s parents bought a house last winter and this was our first trip to see it. I was lucky enough to spend 10 days there, Kyle only got to spend 6 but we made the most of it. The boys did lots of hiking while the girls did too much shopping! Everything is so cheap, clothes, food and booze a 40 of Bacardi rum for $19.99, got to love that! Everyone is so friendly and its so CLEAN no nasty melting snow or dirty cars. It was a great vacation and a much needed break from winter.

Happy Valentines Day!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?

Almost six years! We met at the end of March and officially starting dating on July, 29 2005.

2. How did you meet { Your love story }

I will keep this short I’m sure I could write a book tho! We met on vacation in the Dominican Republic in March of 2005. He was on vacation with his WHOLE family I’m talking sister, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles and his grandma. I was with my parents. If you know us we are both fairly shy and quiet until we are comfortable around the new people we meet. Needless to say we noticed each other the first day, at that point in time I was obsessed with the surfer boy look ;) which Kyle had going on way back then! So it was the third day of our week vacation and I was already laying out on the beach with sunglasses on listening to my iPod. I notice Kyle come down and get a chair an what not, he sits down for a bit then gets up and leaves. I don’t really think anything of it. He comes back like 2 minutes later listening to his iPod! Of course I giggle to myself, he definitely got my attention. SO this whole not talking to each other goes all day and all evening, I could give more details but I would be here FOREVER. So finally the next day I walk into the ocean to cool off he follows not in a creepy way or anything ( apparently his mom told him to go!) and we slowly get closer and closer, it was painful. Of course our families are watching from the beach.. this whole thing goes on for like 40 minutes. And FINALLY I turn around and start talking to him, he to this day says he was turning around to say something first and I interrupted him, yah whatever! Needless to say we had a great rest of the trip together hanging out and staying up late every night. We were both just looking for a fling but it turned out to be much more than that!! <3

3. If married, how long have you been married, if not is this the guy you hope to marry?

We were legally married on July. 31st 2010. So a year and a half.

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?

We were lucky enough to have two weddings! Our official wedding was in Mulhurst at pigeon lake, Alberta. we had 13 guests and 3 four legged friends! It was the most perfect day very relaxed and lots of fun! The second wedding was on March. 16th 2011 in Varadero, Cuba. We were hoping for a bigger turn out but only our parents were able to come, this was suppose to be the BIG wedding. We still had an absolutely amazing time and wouldn’t have changed it for the world!

5. Any nicknames that you call each other?

To the dogs we call each other Mommy and Daddy, yes we are THOSE people! I call him baby or babe. He calls me lady sometimes and another nickname which is not appropriate! If you know George Carlin at all you might figure it out! ;)

6. Name 3 things you love about your other half.

-The fact that he is SO incredibly handy, never need to hire someone if something goes wrong!

-His humor

-How smart he is, he tells me something new every day!

7. Tell us one thing that you would like to do with your significant other one day? If you could do anything or go anywhere.

Backpack around South America, travel to Japan and do an RV trip around the southern states! There is so much we want to do!

8. Any valentines plans?

Not really, I work late tonight. We did have a nice dinner on Sunday night though :)

9. Give us one piece of advice for keeping a relationship strong.

Communication.

Chicago deep dish pizza.

So this recipe isn’t healthy per se but it tastes good and is probably better for you then restaurant pizza!

What you need:

1/2 pound italian sausage ( I used turkey to save on some calories)

1/2 cup chopped onions

1/4 cup green peppers

1/2 cup of pizza sauce

1 can refrigerated pizza dough ( you could make the crust from scratch to this is just the easy and fast route.)

2 cups of cheese ( I mixed mozzarella and old cheddar )

Make it:

Heat oven to 350

Brown sausage and vegetables in skillet. Stir in pizza sauce. Remove from heat.

Unroll pizza dough; press onto bottom and up side of 9 inch deep-dish pie plate sprayed with cooking spray. Sprinkle 1/2 cup cheese onto bottom crust; cover with sausage mixture and remaining cheese.

Bake 35 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

We have had SO many tomatoes grow this year! I would say well over 80 and all different shapes and sizes. We planted 3 different kinds, bush early girl, juliet’s and cluster grande’s. I’m so pleased with the turn out. But unfortunately the growing season is coming to an end, I’m going to miss the fresh salads everyday!
